Saigontourist launches contests to mark 42nd birthday
Saigontourist Holding Company, the country’s leading tourism enterprise, has joined forces with Tuoi Tre Newspaper to launch writing, photo and video clip contests named “Savor Vietnam” in celebration of the holding company’s 42nd anniversary (August 1, 1975-2017).
Tran Hung Viet, general director of Saigontourist and head of the organizing committee, said in a statement that the contest is aimed at highlighting the beauty of Vietnamese culture, tradition, people, and nature, and promoting the country’s hospitality industry, following the success of the first edition of the contest in 2014.
Contestants are encouraged to write interesting stories, take amazing photos and make animated video clips about stunning landscapes, unique cultural features, traditional festivals, local culinary and charms of Vietnamese people around the country.
The three contests are open for both Vietnamese citizens and foreigners regardless of ages and careers, and the deadline for submission is March 31 next year.
In the video clip category, entries in high-resolution (HD, full HD) versions of not more than three minutes in duration must be submitted online at http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vn, or should be sent to the organizers at firstname.lastname@example.org with a complete entry form otherwise, it will not be accepted.
There will be two quarter prizes worth VND7 million each, with the first one for winning video clips submitted between August and November, and the other for best entries sent from December 1 to March 31. In addition, the best quarter prize-winning clip will be posted on Tuoi Tre television.
The first winner will pocket a cash prize worth VND40 million and a travel voucher of VND24 million from Saigontourist Travel Service while the two second prize winners will be awarded a cash prize of VND25 million each and a travel voucher of VND12 million each. Three third-prize winners each will earn VND15 million plus a travel voucher valued at VND6 million, and four consolidation prizes are worth VND10 million in cash each.
In the photo category, entries can be sent to http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vn or email to: email@example.com. Photos must not have been posted in any media or social networks, not given any prize before and have been taken in the last 24 months. Each contestant can send a single photo or a collection of photos, in the latter case at least 10 photos per collection with captions in detail.
There will be eight monthly prizes worth VND7 million each. The monthly prize-winning photo will be posted on Tuoi Tre Newspaper and have the opportunity to win a ticket to the final round.
The first winner of the photo contest will be given a cash prize worth VND40 million and a travel voucher of VND20 million from Saigontourist Travel Service while the two second prize winners will get a cash prize of VND25 million each and a travel voucher of VND10 million each. Three third-prize winners can claim a cash prize of VND15 million each and a travel voucher valued at VND5 million, and four consolidation prizes are worth VND10 million in cash each.
In the essay category, candidates are required to submit writings of no more than 1,500 words in English or Vietnamese. Entries that have claimed prizes in prior contests, have been posted in social networking sites or published are not eligible.
Two quarter winners will be offered a chance to receive a prize worth VND5 million each, with the first for entries submitted from August to November and the other for best entries sent from December to March next year.
Meanwhile, the first winner will grasp a cash prize of VND25 million and a travel voucher of VND10 million from Saigontourist Travel Service. Two second prizes are worth VND15 million and a travel voucher of VND5 million each while three third-prize winners are to acquire a cash prize of VND10 million and a travel voucher of VND3 million and four consolidation prizes are around VND5 million each.
The award presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place next June. The country’s leading tourism company will offer a two-night five-star hotel room for prize winners who are non-residents in HCMC to attend the ceremony. The rooms are booked by Saigontourist only.
